A Surprise Proposal Portrait Shoot
The Message..
Last summer I got a message from Drew asking for my help with something he was working on. To be exact I got a message that read, “Hey I need your help with something very last minute. Are you busy Saturday?”
I had a feeling I knew what it was and I was so excited, happy, and slightly nervous when he told me he was planning to propose to Brooklyn! Excited and happy because I love Brooklyn and Drew and everyone’s been waiting on a ring. Nervous because Drew sent me the message on Thursday to plan for the proposal on Saturday! Oh, and they were leaving for a cruise that weekend as well.
The Plan…
Drew sent me his idea of me getting Brooklyn to take photos and we would have the surprise proposal set up at the end of the photo session. I sent Brooklyn a text asking for a favor of her and Drew doing some modeling for me so that I could update some photos on my website (7 months later, here they are, so not a total lie!), she agreed and I thanked her for helping me out! Little did she know!
Saturday Morning…
Drew and I had been texting about the plan and how he wanted the setup to be so we met at the location early Saturday morning to get everything ready. It was of course so hot, we were both sweaty building the arch and getting the flowers and everything set up just perfect. We walked through the plan to be sure we were on the same page and left to get ready for the real thing.
The Shoot…
A few hours later I arrived back at the shoot location, holding on to the (most gorgeous ring), put it in the spot for Drew to grab and walked back up to the parking area to meet Brooklyn and Drew. By this time it was really hot so I thanked Brooklyn again for agreeing to take photos on this particular day that was already super busy for them. We started taking photos as if it was any other shoot and working our way around the property. I’m not sure about Drew, but I know my heart had never beat faster at a photo shoot. The plan was to walk around and slowly make our way to the area we had setup earlier in the day. Everything was going well, we got some beautiful shots, and then Brooklyn got stung by a bee. I was a little worried that would ruin the shoot but we moved spots and kept going.
After shooting for what seemed like forever (even though it couldn’t have been too long) we finally got to the part of the field where the arch was in sight. I think she said something along the lines of “it’s happening right now?!”, they hugged, cried, and Drew got down on one knee to ask Brooklyn to be his wife! Of course she said yes!
It was beautiful, enjoy the story of their proposal in photos…
I’m so excited for these two, we’ve all come a long way from taking their prom, high school, and college graduation and everything in between photos. I’m most excited to take their wedding photos in a few months!
Cheers to the Craigs!
